The Problem

Veolia took new offices in the Midlands and chose Rhino Interiors for their fit-out works. Anchor were invited to suggest a solution for door security and convenience. The solution needed to work with the landlord's access control system in use for the buildings common areas (and car park barrier) as well as the new electronically secured locker system.

The tight refurbishment programme needed close liaison with the interiors contractor to ensure Anchor would be on site on the correct days for first fix and second fix to avoid delays. Restrictions on the use of step ladders were also accommodated by Anchor at the expense of extra time to build and rebuild tower access on either side of doorways, abiding by the contractor's strict H&S risk assessments.

The Anchor Solution

Working with glass doors is not easy, but Anchor were able to use their normal method with aluminium saddle brackets for mounting electromagnetic locks. Operated by the Paxton Net 2 system, only valid fob/card holders can gain access through the doors.

By utilising a multi-format type card reader which supports cards operating on a number of different frequencies, both the new and existing systems were able to be operated from a single card system.

The outcome

The smooth running and the protection of the clients' assets was vital in this highly monitored environment. The system combines seamless everyday use and a full record of all attempts at opening the doors. The door status is constantly monitored for lock or unlocked, meaning that management can have full up to the minute control of the premises.
