The Problem

Portlands Mews includes a small select residential development, built around twenty years ago. The Managing Agent asked Anchor for suggestions on how to address two problems facing the residents: failing audio entry systems, and recently replaced main entrance doors which although high quality, were heavy and difficult to unlock and open, and were fitted into wide shallow-arched openings.

The Anchor Solution

The Anchor Solution was to

  • Modify the doors so as to remove the spring closers
  • design and manufacture specially shaped timber infill sections for the door head openings
  • supply and fit automatic door opening mechanisms, with full safety provision
  • replace the electric locking mechanisms to allow integration
  • replace the entry systems with high quality audio systems but including proximity token access provision, and with the external units post-mounted a short distance away from the buildings.
The outcome

Residents can now enter by momentarily presenting a secure fob to an external reader, causing automatic door operation without difficulty, and the communal areas remain secure.
