Door fob swipe systems explained
There are several options for entry systems – key cards, swipe cards, and door fobs being just a few.
Swipe cards use the same technology as credit cards – a magnetic stripe – which holds the user credentials. The system can be designed so swipe cards only have access to certain doors, or at certain times, to ensure control over your premises.
RFID (radio frequency identification) systems offer an alternative to swipe cards. The RFID tag is stored in either a keycard or key fob, and the entry system encloses a scanner. The scanner will automatically identify cards or fobs with access permissions and unlock the access as required.
Both RFID and swipe cards are popular for commercial and industrial keyless entry systems and both can be used to place time and access restrictions on staff.
